Wellbeing Centres

Age Concern Birmingham is the leading independent local charity providing services and support for older people, carers and others in need living within the city of Birmingham.

Getting out and spending time with others

Caring for an older relative or friend can be exhausting.  Age Concern Birmingham understands that there are occasions when you need time for yourself, not just to deal with the important matters in life but simply to take some “time out”.

To facilitate respite for carers we operate a Drop-in Service from each of our day centres, offering recreational and social activities for the person you are caring for.  Appointments can be made either on the day or in advance. All you need to do is call your local day centre and arrange a time to drop off your friend or relative.

Upon arrival at your chosen day centre, you will be asked to complete a short form and away you go.

The charge for this service is £5 per hour and if the service user arrives at one of our day centres before 10:30am we will arrange a two course hot lunch for them, at an additional charge.

Referrals can be made by doctors, social workers, carers, and a member of the family or the individual themselves by calling the centre direct.
